AICTE TO START CAMP OFFICE AT ASSAM ENGINEERING COLLEGE FOR THE NORTH EAST
Assam Engineering College (Jalukbari); 21.07.2011:
In a bid to improve accessibility of all technical institutions of the North East to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, an Eastern Regional Camp Office of AICTE is soon going to start in the Assam Engineering College premises. AICTE is the apex advisory body of India, established in 1945 and solely responsible for planning, approval and maintenance of standards for all engineering, management and other technical courses in the country. At present, the Eastern Regional Office of AICTE at Kolkata monitors the affairs of all institutions of this Region, including annual extension of approval matters. But with the establishment of the Camp Office at AEC premises in Jalukbari, the ever-increasing technical institutions of NER would get lot of relief and timely guidance from AICTE.
A high level delegation of AICTE led by its Chairman Dr. S S Mantha visited Assam Engineering College on 21st July 2011 to assess the status of the Camp Office at AEC. He was accompanied by Dr. B L Rama, the Regional Officer of AICTE, Kolkata and other officials of the Camp Office of Guwahati. The team, accompanied by AEC Principal and senior faculty members, made visits to various departments, laboratories and facilities of the college, and remarked that Assam Engineering College deserves to take the leadership role in the Region with its infrastructure and commitment. The Chairman Dr. Mantha expressed great satisfaction on the arrangements made by Assam Engineering College to accommodate the Camp Office and sought for overall cooperation of the Principal, faculty and staff of the college for its smooth functioning. He also discussed about the formal inauguration ceremony of this Camp Office by the Minister of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, next month.
