The Electrical Engineering Branch established its roots in Assam Engineering College in 1957, as the second functioning branch.

The branch offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree and has an annual intake of 60 students. Experienced professors and lecturers strengthen the department, which creates a healthy environment with student-teacher ratio of 5:1.

The curriculum of the department is mainly oriented to cater the needs of IT- Industry, Software Controlled Heavy and Light Electrical and Power Systems. The Department also offers post graduate courses in Electric Energy Systems and Control & Instrumentation.

Laboratory

The training in Basic Electrical Engineering is given in B. E. E. lab. The machine lab imparts training in operation of all electrical machines . Besides this, the department has various labs in Linear Electronics, Digital System, Microprocessors , Measurement and Instrumentation.

The Computer Lab is equipped with latest processor based numerous computers which run on upgraded System Software, Application Software with Internet facility. The computers are networked (LAN) with other departments to work in coordination.
