Introduction

Dr. Sonali Biswas is an academician and researcher specializing in the design and development of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) sensors for biomedical applications. She serves as an Associate Professor under the Department of Higher Education (Technical), Government of Assam, currently affiliated with Assam Engineering College (AEC), Guwahati.
Doctorate: Dr. Biswas earned her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) in 2019 from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Her doctoral research focused heavily on the design and analysis of wearable piezoresistive MEMS accelerometers with low cross-axis sensitivity, optimized for diagnosing neurological diseases.
• M.Tech: Completed her Master's in Electronics Design and Technology from Tezpur University (2004).
• B.E.: Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Dibrugarh University (2002)
Prior to her tenure at AEC, she spent over 17 years as an Assistant Professor in the Instrumentation Engineering Department at Jorhat Engineering College from March 2007 onwards when she got her regular appointment through APSC.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Biswas’s expertise lies at the intersection of biomedical instrumentationdevice designand green technology. Her prominent research domains include: • MEMS and Sensor Design: Advanced engineering of micro-accelerometerspressure sensorsand piezoresistive/piezoelectric configurations. • Biomedical Diagnostics: Tailoring miniature sensors for low-frequency physiological capturesuch as detecting pathological and postural tremors or evaluating neurological disorders. • Sustainable Electronics & E-Waste Management: Her latest projects pivot toward environmentally responsible engineeringutilizing non-toxiceco-friendlyor biodegradable materials to develop transient biomedical sensors capable of energy harvesting. In brief her major area of interest are Instrumentation systemsMEMS DevicesTransducersBiomedical applicationsDigital ElectronicsDigital IC Design.
