Tech Talk on Security and Privacy of LLM Interfaces

Tech talk on 17 September 2026.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Assam Engineering College, organized a Tech Talk on “Are Your Prompts Private? Timing Leakage and Output Steering in Shared-GPU LLM Interface” on 17 September 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Satyajit Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati.

The talk focused on emerging security and privacy challenges associated with Large Language Model (LLM) services deployed in shared GPU environments. The session introduced students to contemporary research issues related to timing leakage, output steering, and the security implications of shared computational infrastructure for generative AI systems.

The programme was attended by students of the 5th and 7th Semesters of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Assam Engineering College. The topic generated considerable curiosity among the students and received an encouraging response. The session provided an opportunity for students to gain exposure to emerging research areas at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, and Cybersecurity.

As a mark of appreciation, Dr. Satyajit Das was felicitated by the Head of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering, Assam Engineering College, following the session.

The Department continues to facilitate such academic interactions to provide students with exposure to contemporary developments in Computer Science and encourage their interest in research and emerging technologies.
